Jomsom Muktinath Trekking is classical trek to explore the Trans-Himalayan area spreading over the world deepest gorge – Kali Gandaki and towering peaks of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) and Mt. Nilgiri (6940m) dominating the whole region. Often called as Lower Mustang trekking, this epic adventure comprises variety of landscapes, ethnic and cultural diversity bound to supply an unforgettable experience for any travel enthusiast. Waking down through gorgeous rhododendron forest after wonderful scenario of eight thousanders towards the arid barren landscapes encountering different faces amid centuries old monasteries is impressive and it gets better with the tasteful of Apple Pie or Apple Brandy (as you like). Muktinath Temple – a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhist at 3760m is highest elevation we will reach on this Jomsom Muktinath Trek.
We start our journey following the Poon Hill trekking route passing rice terraces to visit the prominent Poon Hill (3210m) to enjoy the sunrise and awesome mountain views and then descend to natural hot-spring (“Tatopani” literally meaning Hot “Tato” and Pani “water”) through subtropical rhododendron forest encountering Gurung & Poon villages. Along the trail towards historic Marpha village a.k.a “Apple Capital of Nepal”, we shall be rewarded with the magnificent view of Dhaulagiri Icefall and delicious lunch prepared by local Thakali people who are famous for preparing delicious “Dal Bhat” – a daily staple of any Nepalese. Be ready with your sunglasses and head cover because it’s going to be Windy as trail approaches to Muktinath. Morning visit to temple will reward you with beautiful view of Dhaulagiri range and Mustang valley and 108 sacred waterspouts and mythological ever burning blue flame which is believed to lighten by God Brahma (creator of universe) at the beginning of time. Before arriving Jomsom, this last day includes visit to several Buddhist site at our lunch-break point, Kagbeni – a beautiful village resembling Tibetan face and typical lifestyle with collection of several old Buddhist Gompas and monasteries at the bank of Kali Gandaki River and also a gateway to Historical Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang. We enjoy the evening sunset coloring the grey landscapes of Jomsom before catch our early flight to Pokhara on next day.

Standard itinerary and route plan is typically designed considering the average level of fitness of travelers and level of altitude gain on the trek (and multiple other factors) which can be modified as per the interest, time and budget plan of travelers. There is always a room for customization of the given standard itinerary, if it does not meet your way of interest and then please pass your opinion. You may want to stay in Kathmandu by yourself or maybe do sightseeing around by yourself; we will give you more information to do it by yourself if you ask us.
